Runways, no-fly zones and flying area
Mark your field on its map so crosswind readings, landing scores and no-fly checks work there. Anyone who flies at the field can draw them.
How to start
- Open Sites and tap your field to open its page. The drawing tools are under the site's map.
- Check in at the field once: open the app there with location turned on, or tap Check In Here on the site page (you need to be within 500 m). Until you have, the Draw buttons don't show.
- Runway: tap Draw Runway, tap one end of the strip, then the other end, then one edge of the strip to set its width. Add a name if you like and tap Save Zone.
- Before saving, or when you edit a runway later, drag its blue ends to adjust them or the orange middle to move the whole strip - or tap Redraw instead.
- No-fly zone: tap Draw Zone, tap the map around the area to place its corners (Undo Point removes the last one), tap Finish, give it a name and tap Save Zone.
- Flying area: tap Draw Area and draw it the same way, pick a colour and save it.
Tips
- More than one runway? Tap the star on one to make it Primary - that's the one used for crosswind readings.
- With a runway marked, your GPS flights there get a landing score and Flying Conditions shows the crosswind on it.
- GPS flights are checked against the no-fly zones, and everyone who opens the site sees them on the map.
- Use the pencil and bin next to each one to edit or delete it - each shows who drew it.
